About Me

I have been in the music industry in the Overland Park, Kansas area for over 30 years and I love to use my knowledge, talent, and experience to help others develop their musical skills. My music training services are personally tailored to each student and their own preferences and skill level. This includes drawing from a variety of different genres in order to maximize motivation and student's skill and proficiency.

I have played the piano and sung for several decades. I have an appreciation and have played music of all genres. As a music student, my interest level would ebb and flow. But my dad's persistence in encouraging me to stick with it has led to a skill that provides me a lot of enjoyment and is very rewarding as a teacher.

Over the years, I had many opportunities to refine my skill. This has led to a lifetime of passion in music. In high school, I discovered musical theatre and my experience not only includes teaching, but also performing. I have performed at weddings, funerals, anniversary parties, special events, coffee houses, musicals, benefit concerts, and churches.

I also have experience directing and composing. I was the K-12 music director at a private school for a number of years. In addition, I directed musical theatre at a musical theatre camp for 12 years and have directed other musicals and theatre productions within the school system. I have also composed several songs and have written and directed a children's musical. This experience has combined to equip me to offer quality instruction in each of these areas in my studio. I also teach in the public school and have a master's degree in curriculum and instruction.

 When experience and compassion intersect, lives are changed. I've built a career and business on this principle.
